June - Schneg Family Birthday Party!

We celebrated family birthdays with Scott's side of the family at Heather's house in June. Joan was here for Averie's blessing and she has a June birthday. It was wonderful to have her here!

One of our gifts to Eric was the left over baby food from Scott's Amazing Race party and the business stamped matchbook they creatively acquired!

Durham Bulls Game - almost

Scott's work gives employee's and their families free tickets to a Durham Bulls game each season. We were all so excited to go! It looked like it was going to rain, but we were keeping our fingers crossed it wouldn't. We were hungry, so the first thing we did was to grab hotdogs and then find our seats.
Look at those clouds! Yikes! It started to rain and the crew pulled the tarp over the ball field.

Well, before the game even started it began to rain. And not just rain, but P-O-U-R. We went into a breezeway to wait out the storm. Scott was checking the progress of the storm on his phone. We chatted with other fans. After standing for over an hour and seeing that the storm was moving very slowly, we decided to leave. SO disappointing.
The kids were troopers. It was super humid and they were tired of standing. Nathan decided to go play in the rain.
As we were leaving we passed a vendor selling fried dough. You CAN'T pass up any chance of eating fried dough! The kids loved it!
We learned on the news that night that the game began after 10pm that night. So glad we didn't wait around for that!

Nathan's 6th Birthday!

My parents bought him a Nintendo DS. He was thrilled! I still think he's too young!

Grandpa helping Nathan open and set up his DS.

Scott bought my mom a beautiful pashmina during his last trip to India.

For Nathan's birthday dinner he asked if we could go to Kanki.

My sister, Kelly, sent Nathan this card about vegetables and that the "peas were not allowed in the pool". He thought it was hilarious! Happy Birthday, sweet kid!

Noah

I can't believe my Noah is finished with the 3rd grade. Where has the time gone?? He won the "Be Your Best" award and was excited. Awards are given throughout the year for generosity, respect, etc. Noah was excited to win this one b/c "it's all of the other awards together in this award!" Noah made straight A's all year again this year, did fantastic on his EOG's, became a better writer, was on the chess team and took after school art lessons. I'm so proud of him!

On the last day of school, I picked him up early and took him for a "Last Day of School" lunch! Here he is with his amazing teacher, Mrs. Kusilek.

Summertime, here we come!!

Nathan's Teacher Conference

This post is actually from this past February. We had our semi-annual Teacher's Conference at Nathan's pre-school. All of the parents make appointments for these in the fall and spring. Each time I came to blog about this I never had the paper I needed nearby. Today, I randomly found it on the floor and came straight to the computer with it!

"Nathan continues to be a very caring child. He is still delighted when his job is the "care giver". He does still love to play with his friends inside during our center time and outside on the playground. Virginia continues to be one of his favorite classmates.

He has acquired many skills:

1. counts to 100 and can count by 10's
2. can sign the letters in his name and a few others
3. can blend sounds together
4. can distinguish beginning sounds
5. knows many beginning sounds
6. rhymes very well
7. knows several sight words
8. gross motor skills - very good! - throwing/catching a ball - good strength in both legs
9. scissor skills are good
10. story sequence is great! good flow
11. fine motor skills - age appropriate

He has many skills that will help him do a good job in kindergarten. We are pleased with his skill development. Our one concern is that recently he has been calling out during our morning meetings.
Nathan is a bright boy and we know he will do well next year!"

Astronomy Days

Scott was asked to participate in Astronomy Days at the NC Science Museum in May. He was helping out with the model rockets display. I took the kiddos down to enjoy the events! The first thing they did was to check out the huge telescopes! The people there were so patient explaining what the kids were looking at and how the different scopes worked.

Next, they were off to design their bottle rockets and launch them!

Off to the Moon Walk!

All of those rockets are Scott's. Some of them have been disassembled due to size.
