Someone sent this to me and I think it's hilarious! Maxine is the old lady on the Hallmark cards. Enjoy!
Maxine for President
Everyone concentrates on the problems we're having in this country lately: illegal immigration, hurricane recovery, alligators attacking people in Florida .
Not me. I concentrate on solutions for the problems. It's a win-win situation.
+ Dig a moat the length of the Mexican border.
+ Send the dirt to New Orleans to raise the level of the levies.
+ Put the Florida alligators in the moat along the Mexican border.
Any other problems you would like for me to solve today ? Yes!
Think about this one:
1. Cows
2..The Constitution
3. The Ten Commandments
C O W S
Is it just me, or does anyone else find it amazing that during the mad cow epidemic our government could track a single cow, born in Canada almost three years ago, right to the stall where she slept in the state of Washington? And, they tracked her calves to their stalls. But they are unable to locate 11 million illegal aliens wandering around our country. Maybe we should give each of them a cow.
T H E C O N S T I T U T I O N
They keep talking about drafting a Constitution for Iraq .... Why don't we just give them ours? It was written by a lot of really smart guys, it has worked for over 200 years, and we're not using it anymore.
T H E 1 0 C O M M A N D M E N T S
The real reason that we can't have the Ten Commandments posted in a courthouse is this: You cannot post 'Thou Shalt Not Steal,' 'Thou Shalt Not Commit Adultery,' and 'Thou Shall Not Lie' in a building full of lawyers, judges and politicians..It creates a hostile work environment.

Errands, errands, errands
What a week! The beginning of the week was pretty standard. Wednesday we went to meet Noah's 1st grade teacher. He likes her and is excited about the kids he knows in his class. His bestest buddy from last year is in his class AND is sitting beside him! He said, "Awesome!" Also, the girl sitting across from him was in his class last year and told him all year that she loves him. We'll see how that goes. :-) That night I went to a bridal shower for my bestest friend's son's fiance. It was so great seeing a lot of people I haven't seen in a while since moving to .
Thursday we had a meeting with our financial planner (if anyone is looking for one, lemme know! He's fantastic!) and that night went to an open house at Noah's school. Friday Noah got his cast off! He was excited that morning saying, "Now I can use my right hand to hold a spoon while eating my cereal. I can use my right hand to use the mouse when playing on the computer!" He did great! When he got his previous 2 casts off he was pretty scared b/c the machine they use is LOUD. His arm looks so tiny b/c of wearing the cast, but the doctor said it would plump back up in a couple of months. His wrist is pretty stiff, so we go back in 3 weeks to check it out. I guess I'd better plan to be there all morning (see previous post). Noah is scared about using his arm, so he's still using his left. He'll work up to using his other hand. That afternoon I gave Noah a bath and let that hand soak. His fingers have been so sensitive since getting the cast (nerves waking up), so it's been hard to really clean his hand, under the cast, and his fingernails. He soaked in the tub for a good 40 minutes and it looks MUCH better! Friday night I had a girls nite out with my Dancing Queens! We celebrated Sonya's birthday by going out to eat and then seeing Mamma Mia! We saw the play last fall and were excited to see the movie. The music was good, but Pierce Brosnon can NOT sing. It was hard watching the guy I know as James Bond "sing". Whenever he sang the audience cracked up. I'm not sure that was the intended response while making the movie, but his singing was ick. So wonderful being out with my girls. Love you guys!
Saturday was busy running errands getting Noah ready for school. We went to get him some burgundy shirts (his school has a dress code). He can wear white and navy blue shirts bought anywhere, but the burgundy ones have to be a specific burgundy color, (read = expensive) so you can only get them from 3 places. Long story about that, but let's just say it took most of the day. Saturday night, my WONDERFUL sister-in-law, Heather, did my hair for me. She gave me 2 colors of highlights and a haircut. Besides spending time with her and feeling pampered, her sweet Matthew came into the room where we were and gave me a big hug and kiss before he went to bed! He is Noah's age and we've pretty much been on a "high five" basis with occasional hugs thrown in. What a great feeling!
Sunday was pretty typical with 2 fun things happening. First, I got to see my adorable 10 month old niece, Sylvie, take several steps! Last time I saw her she was taking 1-2 steps. Stop growing up so fast, Sylvie! Next, my sister, Kelly, called me from (she lives there) and we had a great conversation. I love her and miss her greatly.
Tomorrow my Noah starts 1st grade. I'm excited for him, but not excited to be getting up early. Hope everyone has a wonderful week!

Let me get out my soapbox
I'm a little fired up. Why are the waits soooooo loooooooooong in the doctor's office?!? Yesterday I took Noah to get his cast off (YEA!) and we were there for over 1 1/2 hours!!! How long does it take to remove a cast, take 2 x-rays and have the doctor say "looks good"?? Our appointment was at 9:40am. We weren't called back for 25 minutes. The PA took Noah's cast off a few minutes after we got into the room. Then we waited.....to get the x-rays. Then we waited again. After another 20 minutes I went out to ask the nurse if the doctor was coming soon. She said "you're next". Yeah, right. Then 15 minutes later a student doctor came in to check Noah out and to tell us that the doctor would be right in. Guess what? We waited and waited and waited. Then he comes in, looks at the x-ray, looks at Noah's arm and says "looks good". I had many errands to run that morning before getting Nathan from pre-school at noon. Didn't get anything done. If this happened once in a while, ok, but this seems to happen MOST of the time. Even at the pediatrician's office. If you're late to an appointment there you have to re-schedule or pay a $25 fee. Again, we wait there, too. Then the nurse comes in, then the student doctor comes in (they always seem to have a student doctor), then finally, the doctor comes in. Then if you need to get a prescription you wait for that. So, my question is - if I make an appointment and the DOCTOR is late, shouldn't they be paying me $25? My time in valuable, too!! You think it would fly if I kept a doctor waiting that long? Now emergencies do happen and I understand that. Sometimes doctors get a little behind and I understand that, too. But 1 1/2 hours and there aren't many patients in the office? Hmmmm.....
Okay, I'll get off my soapbox now.

I'm a blogger, he's a blogger, she's a blogger....
we're a blogger, wouldn't you like to be a blogger, too? (sung to the Dr. Pepper theme song for those of us old enough to remember those commercials). For some reason it's been rolling around in my head for a few days.....
Our week was a good one and it seemed to go by quickly. My sister, Megan, came and got Noah on Friday and took him to spend the weekend with her. He absolutely loves going to Aunt Megan's house! He and Nathan have been having a hard time arguing with each other lately, so it was nice for all of us to have a break!
The biggest thing that happened this week was done by my boy, Nathan. He pooped in the potty!! Now I know for those of you who don't have kids that this may not be a big deal, but for those of you who do have kids you know this IS a BIG DEAL! Can I give a shout-out to Nathan?!?
I was going through the day's mail when Nathan runs through the kitchen announcing that he needs to go to the bathroom. He runs in a and minute later I hear something (well, you know......). I rush in thinking "could it be?!? could it ACTUALLY be?!?!" and yes, it was! Woohoo! He was very proud and I had been telling him that when he poops in the potty we'll go to the store and get a toy. So, later that night we go to the Dollar Store and spend 45 minutes looking at every toy there is in the store. He finally decides to get a Dora balloon. We waited in the line that never seemed to end and paid for it. On our way out the door I asked him if I could hold the balloon until we got to the car.
"No, I do it."
"Ok, can Mommy tie the balloon on your wrist so it doesn't fly away?"
"No, I do it."
"OOOOOOOOOOkay", I think walking out of the door.
Nathan turns to look at the bins of stuff in front of the store and lets his balloon go. He doesn't even realize it's gone b/c he's so intent on looking at this stuff. He turns around and says, "Where'd my bawoon go?"
"Up in the sky", I told him.
He looks up and sees his treasured balloon flying away. He looks at me, stunned, and then makes the most sad, pitiful face I've ever seen and begins to cry. "My bawoon, my bawoon! I can't reach it!"
Several people were walking by all with their lips puckered out from watching this little boy lose his "bawoon".
So, I think....is this a teachable moment where he learns to tie balloons to his wrist or they fly away or do I get him another one?
We go back into the store and wait in an even longer line and get another one. After all, he did poop in the potty!
Mommy holds this one until we get into the car and as I'm buckling him into his car seat he looks at me with a big grin and says, "Fanks, Mom!"
Saturday night we went to a Durham Bulls game (baseball for those who don't live here). Scott's work bought a section and gave us free tickets! They also added $20 in food coupons! The weather was decent and there was a nice breeze blowing. Scott's brother, Mark, (who works at the same company) came with his wife, Jamie, son Alexander and new baby, Gabriella. Jamie's sister is visiting and she came, too! They sat in the row behind us so we spent most of the time visiting instead of watching the game! I just love them! We're so lucky that a lot of Scott's family and my family live nearby! Hope everyone has a fantastic week!

Super Cute!
Ok, so 3 mornings ago I came out of the bathroom and found Nathan laying in bed with Scott. He says, "Mom, I'm waying (laying) with Dad, so you have to go". Hmmmm......... Then Scott says, "No, mommy needs to come lay with us". So I laid at the bottom of the bed and everyone was quiet. A few minutes later Nathan (with his arms behind his head looking all relaxed) looks at us and says, "I just reawy (really) wub (love) you guys!" Awww......sniff, sniff.... Then he gets up and gives me a hug and does the same for Scott. What a wonderful way to start the day!
Joining the year 2008........
Welcome to our family blog! This is going to be a challenge for me, as most of you know, because I am computer-challenged. Do they have a support group for that?
Anyhoo, I will hopefully be adding to our blog often and would love to hear from you!
