Yes, I'm kinda yelling a bit. My sweet Nathan talks INCESSANTLY. From the time he wakes up until he goes to sleep. I do love his cute little voice and the interesting things he has to say. He cracks me up most of the time. But lately, this is what I hear: mom.mom.mom.mom.mom.mom.mom.mom. or why?why?why?why?why?why? Yes, yes, I know he's 3 and he is curious, but after hearing this 100 times in 5 minutes I think my ears may bleed. So here's a conversation from today (we had plans to go swimming with all our cousins and one family couldn't come. Nathan hears me talking on the phone):
"Mom...Mom...Mom...Mom...Mom... Who you talking to?"
I say, "Aunt Christy".
"Why? (pause) Mom, why? (pause) Mom, why you talk Aunt Christy?"
"They can't come to the pool today."
"Why? Why they can't come to pool? Why?"
"Corben's sick. He's not feeling good today.
"Why? Why is Corben sick? (pause) Why, Mom? Why is Corben sick? Tell me mom. Tell me why is Corben sick"
(I'm now taking some deep breaths)
"He has a fever, bud. Maybe his belly and head hurt."
"Why his head hurt? Tell me, Mom. Tell me."
(this is Erin desperate for this conversation to end)
"Uh, because he has black hair".
Nathan thinks about this and then says, "Oh".
END OF CONVERSATION
Now this wouldn't be so bad if it only happened once in a while, but this happens SEVERAL times a day. (Breathe in.....breathe out)
