I'm a little fired up. Why are the waits soooooo loooooooooong in the doctor's office?!? Yesterday I took Noah to get his cast off (YEA!) and we were there for over 1 1/2 hours!!! How long does it take to remove a cast, take 2 x-rays and have the doctor say "looks good"?? Our appointment was at 9:40am. We weren't called back for 25 minutes. The PA took Noah's cast off a few minutes after we got into the room. Then we waited.....to get the x-rays. Then we waited again. After another 20 minutes I went out to ask the nurse if the doctor was coming soon. She said "you're next". Yeah, right. Then 15 minutes later a student doctor came in to check Noah out and to tell us that the doctor would be right in. Guess what? We waited and waited and waited. Then he comes in, looks at the x-ray, looks at Noah's arm and says "looks good". I had many errands to run that morning before getting Nathan from pre-school at noon. Didn't get anything done. If this happened once in a while, ok, but this seems to happen MOST of the time. Even at the pediatrician's office. If you're late to an appointment there you have to re-schedule or pay a $25 fee. Again, we wait there, too. Then the nurse comes in, then the student doctor comes in (they always seem to have a student doctor), then finally, the doctor comes in. Then if you need to get a prescription you wait for that. So, my question is - if I make an appointment and the DOCTOR is late, shouldn't they be paying me $25? My time in valuable, too!! You think it would fly if I kept a doctor waiting that long? Now emergencies do happen and I understand that. Sometimes doctors get a little behind and I understand that, too. But 1 1/2 hours and there aren't many patients in the office? Hmmmm.....
Okay, I'll get off my soapbox now.

I am with you girl! Izzie had an orthodontist appointment on Wednesday. Tuesday they call and ask to push it to Thursday because of blah blah blah. They set it for Thursday at 2:40. She gets out of school at 2:40, but Gary didn't know that, so he said OK. So obviously I am 13 minutes late. That's what the check in computer said. A screen pops up when she checks in that says, You are 13 minutes late, see the receptionist to reschedule your appointment. I said, "Oh no, you will be seen, we got bumped from our appointment yesterday, so sit down." Izzie was a little afraid of me at that point. LOL! The receptionist said no problem, she can be seen. Then I overhear a doctor say that she wouldn't take Izzie because she was late. I DON'T THINK SO! At that point I think my daughter was ready to leave. I was not budging. She was finally seen by the head orthodontist, which is who I wanted her to see anyway. I am with you on the whole, pay me for running late thing. If you have to see the frickin' student doctor, let him give me my meds and send me on. Or give me a spa certificate for having to be stressed out sitting there with my a.wiggly kid b.my whining teenager or c.WASTING MY DANG TIME!!!
I totally vote for the spa, and they have to babysit the kid.
I'll sign a petition!
